External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar marked the 12th Passport Seva Divas by highlighting the Ministry’s achievements in 2023. He stated that over 1.65 crore passport-related services were provided, and over 14 lakh visa applications were submitted monthly.
Jaishankar emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to improving the citizen experience through technology, noting the operationalisation of 533 Passport Processing Kendras and 37 Regional Passport Offices across India. He also mentioned the integration of passport systems in 187 Missions/Posts abroad and the implementation of the mPassport Police App in 25 states and UTs, covering 9,000 police stations.
He praised the nearly 15% annual growth in passport services and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering efficient, transparent, and accessible passport services. Jaishankar concluded by congratulating the teams involved and expressing confidence in their continued success.
